Fanny's Vintage Fairs rolls into Ingleton on Sunday 31st July for a vintage & craft fair at the community centre. Our shop The Old Bank Emporium (open 7 days 10-5pm) is in the village so we have a strong local connection here.
The community centre is a large venue and there will be 25 vintage & craft stall holders here. A vintage tearoom, music and lots of parking, and admission only 50p! - under 16's get in free.
There are a few stalls left for this event, so get in touch soon if you are interested.

Another great day at Kirkby! after an horrendous Friday with torrential downpours, the sun shone all day on Saturday so we could throw the doors open at our lovely vintage fair. Once again the customers came back in droves,
our next fair will be at Ingleton Community Centre, Ingleton, LA6 3HG, Sunday 31st July

August 13th we are back at Kirkby Lonsdale Institute, LA6 2BG, for our last fair of the summer at this venue.

Stop Press ! We have a very talented pianist Joe Muirs to entertain our customers at the Kirkby Lonsdale Fair on Saturday June 11th. Plus fab tunes from the Andrew Sisters, Glenn Miller etc when Joe is on his tea break!

The Institute is a great venue in the town centre, its easy to find between the post office & Booths supermarket.

Bad News - No Refreshments !
The fairtrade coffee morning have cancelled their event which was scheduled to take place in the meeting room at the same time as our fair.

Good News :Madam Chocolat from Morecambe has stepped in to save the day with her fabulous cupcakes ! so the meeting room & kitchen will be open for our customers.

It's going to be a great day- we have some fantastic stall holders booked - doors open at 10am - get there early & grab yourself some vintage treasures!

What a fabulous first day in our new vintage boutique! The local Elvis officially opened the boutique and serenaded the customers with classic Elvis songs.

We've been busy beavering away for the last few weeks and I'm delighted to announce that our new venture, The Old Bank Emporium is soon to open for business.
We are about to open a shop full of vintage, retro, antique & collectable items.

The Old Bank Emporium will hold stock from 21 different dealers as well as our own array of vintage treasures.
In addition there will be a separate vintage boutique (opening Easter 2011) selling fabulous fashions from the 1930s to 1980s.

The Old Bank Emporium was actually run as a bank in the 1800s and was owned by the Lancaster Banking Company, hence the name we have given it today.

The shop is in the market square of Ingleton one of the busiest tourist villages in the Dales National Park. Just off the A65 (gateway to the Lakes) Ingleton is popular with tourists from all over the country for its magnificent 'Waterfalls Trail' which has 15 waterfalls and several glens, gorges and caves to explore. And of course if you're a keen walker then Ingleton gives you access to Ingleborough; one of the famous 3 Peaks.

We are looking forward to opening our shop in such a beautiful part of the country and hope that you take the time to stop by when you visit this lovely area.

We have just completed fitting out the premises and there are still some spaces available to rent. Prices range from £30 for a small shelf unit (approx 3ft x 3ft) to £80 (5ft x 5ft unit with floor space in front).

Our planned opening date is w/c 11th April, (Thurs or Fri) but keep watching this space for updates!

Where does the time go?

It has been months since I last updated the blog. Business has been crazy; vintage fairs, auctions and private sales have consumed the last 6 months. As the saying goes "there are'nt enough hours in the day". I've also been writing for Vintage Life magazine, it goes on sale in WH Smith and major newsagents from 24th February. If you're a follower of vintage fashion or home style you need to get this mag!
I usually write 2 articles for the magazine; one on homestyle and the other is 'Tips from the Vintage Gardener'. I give advice from my collection of vintage gardening books and photos detailing my experiences in my lovely country garden.
The current issue of Vintage Life includes 2 of my articles 'I'm a little Teapot' a brief history of tea drinking and teapot manufacture in this country. 'Tips from the Vintage Gardener' for February & March gardening. Design Classic

It's not everyday that we can claim to have a design classic at Fanny's Vintage Kitchenalia so thought we'd draw your attention to this one!

The fabulous 'Campden' Toast Rack designed by Robert Welch in 1958 for Old Hall Tableware. This great piece of kitchenalia won a design council award and is on display in the V&A Museum as an example of 20th Century design.

Hi Everyone,

You have probably noticed that things have been quiet from my side for several weeks .
I am back to work at full speed now. I've had a very sad time with the illness and death of someone close to me, and now its time to move on.

Looking forward to the lovely weather that has brightened the last few days and more to come apparently !

The Joys of Spring

My little piece of Spring

Whilst sitting in my conservatory I watched these pretty creamy yellow daffodils and tiny primroses getting battered by the wind. So I dug out a few of my favourite vintage vases (yes one of them is actually a milk jug!) and went out and rescued them. They're now sitting pretty indoors and putting a smile on my face.

New Stock Arrives & MORE SNOW !

What a busy morning already !
New stock arrived this morning from a house clearance, we've managed to sort some of it & I've taken some photo's. Scroll down to see !

But first I'd like to share these photo's with you

This was the view looking towards Pen y Gent yesterday. As you can see in the photo the lovely sunshine was starting to melt the snow. However the view changed overnight & as you can see in the photo below we had more snow!

It does look lovely but it really is making life difficult; an elderley friend of mine is finding it hard getting about. Fortunately he has friends & family to rally round but there are probably others who are not so fortunate.

Snow or no snow the work here still goes on at a pace, looks like I'll be having lunch at my desk!
Could be worse though, Josie has got her rubber gloves on ! Some of the new stock needs a good clean, she's just the woman for the job!

It's been a long hard slog but finally Fanny's Vintage Kitchenalia online store is open for business.
http://www.fannysvintagekitchenalia.com/ Spurred on by my love/obsession for all things retro, vintage and antique I have endured endless mind numbing hours of web design, html code and search engine optimisation advice. But I have to say now that the website is up and running it was all worth the effort. However if anyone were to ask "Do you know how to build a website?" I would say "No!" and leg it a.s.a.p.

The website is packed with Retro, Vintage and Antique Kitchenalia, Tableware, Linens, Glass, Decor, Silver, Collectables and a soon to open Boutique section. Have a look around and you might find just the thing for your retro, vintage style home or buy a vintage gift for a friend .

Firstly I'd like to introduce you to the staff.

Fanny on the chaise

Fanny, the inspiration for our name is a beautiful, slim, platinum blonde with the biggest brown eyes and a great pair of legs. She first showed an interest in vintage kitchenalia at the age of 3 when left alone in the house she would find herself one of my vintage cookery books and proceed to eat the pages one at a time. Depending on how long I was out of the house corresponded with how much of the book she left in tact for me when I returned. All vintage cookery books are now stored well out of her reach !

Now 9 yrs old Fanny prefers to play a more advisory role in the business and leaves me and my woman Friday Josie to do the donkey work.
Fanny's nod of approval is key to selecting the right products for the website. A thumbs up is an 'Ok I'm interested, what else you got' expression and a thumbs down usually results in her jumping off her chaise longue; from where she has been appraising the goods, and leaving the room!
Fanny is in the mould of the more petite and feminine stars of Hollywood in the 1930s and 40s a la Carole Lombard or Veronica Lake, and believe me she acts like one.

Next on the staff is Betty, younger sister to Fanny. Like Fanny Betty also shares a keen interest in vintage collecting. Her favourite vintage collectables are teddy bears and handbags; the softer and more chewable the better !
Betty is a redhead and a big built girl; its all muscle, she's quite a looker and has won a couple of 'best in shows' . When she's dressing to impress she often puts her red 'Show Champion' rosette behind her ear.
Betty is a curvy girl and reminiscent of the 1950s movie stars; I'd liken her to a red headed Jane Russell.
Betty works in our stores department where her natural physical talents for moving heavy boxes comes in handy.

Betty often needs a bonio to motivate her !

Next is Lulu, slim, delicate, raven haired and rather shy. With her sleek elegant profile she looks straight out of the Art Deco period. She's the youngest and the least confident and so spends her time under my desk making sure I'm getting on with my work and keeping my feet warm at the same time. In times of crisis and stress Lulu is my comfort blanket.

As I said Lulu is rather shy !

Then there's my best friend and right hand woman Josie. What Josie doesn't know isn't worth knowing basically! A mine of information, a lifetime of been there, done it, seen it and in terms of energy and get up and go she's the female equivalent of Sir Ranulph Fiennes!
Ace researcher and ferreter of vintage treasures she's an invaluable part of our litte team. Never seen without her trademark red lipstick and a variety of costume jewellery, she has the character of Miss Marple and the understated glamour of Grace Kelly.

Last of all it's me ! Seldom seen with makeup or jewellery I'm the Ellie Mae of the team (Beverley Hillbillies !)
Jeans, wellies and a fleece are my trademark style, well someones got to give Fanny, Betty and Lulu their exercise!
I adore most things vintage, retro and antique and have done for as long as I can remember. I apply this passion and what knowledge I've gleaned through the years to give you as much information as possible about our products.

Due to the fact that neither I or Josie are as photogenic as the above beauties we have decided not to inflinct ourselves on you!
